Could You Get One of these Insider Cruise Ship Jobs?
[ Posted January 28th, 2008 ]Following on from our earlier tip which you can read here I said that "97% of cruise ship vacancies are never advertised". This is mainly because applicants who apply directly to the cruise line company get most of the jobs before they even get to the advertising stage!
However, what I didn’t mention was this…
There are also many jobs on cruise ships that are completely unique to particular cruise line companies - and even specific cruise ships. And these "insider positions" NEVER get advertised. Ever.
In fact, the only way an "outsider" would even know that these positions existed would be by going on a cruise vacation and speaking to crewmembers who work on the ship!
So what types of ‘insider positions’ am I talking about?
Well, consider this: if a cruise ship has a rock climbing wall or a "surf park" or an ice rink or a cinema or a bowling alley or any other onboard ‘fun’ facility like this, then it needs staff, like you, to operate them.
Many of these jobs can be found on all of the new "Mega ships" and plenty of smaller ships. But these positions are never advertised.
Another good example is the onboard internet cafe. Nearly all cruise lines these days have an internet cafe, and all cruise ships need to have staff onboard to operate them.
Do you think "internet cafe" jobs ever get to the advertising stage? Rarely. These ‘insider positions’ are nearly always filled by people who simply apply directly to the cruise line in the hope that such a position exists.
Why don’t you consider applying for some of these "insider jobs" before anybody else does?
You’ll find all the details for these types jobs in our Cruise Line Directory.
